1. Reduce Your Stress
Stress triggers cortisol release and chronic stress can cause your immune system to spiral out of control.
Consider:
- Relaxation Techniques
- Journaling
- Reading stress-free books
- Daily relaxation walks
- Yoga
2. Balance Your Diet
Poorly managed blood sugar levels and inflammation throughout your diet can release excess cortisol. Limiting processed foods can help bring your levels back to normal.
Consider:
- Whole Foods
- Anti-Inflammatory Diet
- Limit Caffeine and Alcohol
- Increase Fiber Intake
3. Manage Your Bedtime Routine
Elevated cortisol levels put your body in a fight-or-flight state which can cause insomnia. Sticking to a regular bedtime routine schedule and getting 8-9 hours of sleep per night can be beneficial.
Consider:
- Limit or eliminate screen time before bed
- Slow your mind down by reading a book
- Exercise earlier in the day
- Meditation practice
